Neutrogena Healthy Skin Makeup: NARS Dupe?

I cant believe that I haven't reviewed this yet! I've owned Neutrogena's Healthy Skin foundation for about half a year now, after hearing that it's a dupe for NARS' Sheer Glow. I believe it's about $12-$14 depending on where you buy it, which is really cheap compared to NARS' Sheer Glow. They have a pretty good shade range, 12 shades total. I went ahead and bought two shades, 60 Natural Beige and 70 Fresh Beige. Natural Beige is supposedly a good match for NC30s and 70 for NC35-40. I really liked it when I FIRST got it, then not so much, now I'm back to loving it!

First things first, I'm sure everyone's curious to know how it compares to NARS' Sheer Glow. I mean, the claims are pretty outrageous right? Everyone loves Sheer Glow, how can Neutrogena even compare? Neutrogena's Healthy Skin Makeup gets some pretty mixed reviews, some people love it, some hate it (it has a 3.5 rating on MakeupAlley).

Neutrogena says:
"Finally, naturally beautiful coverage that takes your skin's health seriously. Neutrogena Healthy Skin® liquid makeup takes over where your skin care leaves off. Silky-light coverage glides on for a perfectly natural look, while the exclusive blend plus SPF 20 work together to visibly improve skin's luminosity, tone, and texture."

First downfall, Healthy Skin doesn't come with a pump, neither does Sheer Glow, but at least NARS sells a pump for it. This is a HUGE downfall because you have to be extra careful with the HS formulation, it spills out like a big girl's muffin top over skinny jeans. I'm serious. The big difference between the two foundation is HS is a lot runnier than SG. It has a thinner, more watery consistency. This has its good and bad sides. The thinner consistency feels lighter on the skin. Healthy Skin also has a light fragrance. I actually like the smell though, it's a pretty scent that makes my brush smell fresh (for reference, I use my ELF flat-top brush for it, the best method thus far).

But how do they look on the skin??

Surprisingly, they look relatively the same! They both give you a slightly dewy finish, with great coverage. The Healthy Skin can look a little bit more shiny, so I do use powder with it. Other then that, I understand why it's been called a "dupe". My only true gripe with it is the staying power. By the end of the day, it's faded a good amount. The longevity of the foundation is ok, but can't keep me looking flawless from morning to night, but then again, neither can Sheer Glow. (*Note: I don't use Healthy Skin enough to notice any change in "tone or texture" to my skin)

Here are the Healthy Skin foundations compared with the Sheer Glow counterparts:
Neutrogena Healthy Skin #60 Natural Beige, NARS Sheer Glow Punjab, HS #70 Fresh Beige, SG Stromboli

As you can see, Sheer Glow runs more yellow. I don't think that I would want to choose one foundation over the other, while they look very similar on the skin, I like that Healthy Skin feels lighter and smells better, but I also like that Sheer Glow runs more yellow. I guess I want the best of both worlds (>    A     <) ehehehe. Greedy pants.

Wow, it's been so long since I've done an actual review! I'm really sorry ladies! This term is kicking my butt! Three more weeks until my spring break starts!

Have any of you ladies tried Healthy Skin? Thoughts

Quick Snap: Love, Love, Love

I hope everyone had a wonderful Valentines day!

♥I made pink heart-shaped cookies yesterday, from scratch! I'm proud that they came out so well =)
♥I'm finally trying out My Beauty Diary Masks! For those that don't know, they are very popular sheet masks in Asia. Since I've never tried them before, I opted for the variety pack so I can try out a bunch of different scents. Every mask does something different. I'm especially interested the ones that brighten and lighten discoloration. Of course I had to get the cute Alice in Wonderland pack! For those that are wondering, I got my pack from eBay. You have to be careful though, there are fakes out there!
♥Finally picked up new lippies. These are more Revlon ones. I'm trying to use colors outside my comfort zone (nude). I bought Lilac, Mauve, and Raspberry. I love them all!
♥I've been addicted to Bath and Body Works lately. I haven't shopped there since I was maybe 14! I ended up getting two body sprays (Twilight Woods and Secret Wonderland) and three mini candles from the new tropical  collection.

♥Surprise! Ehehehhee...( ^ ///  ~  ///  ^)

Birchbox: A Present Every Month

I recently joined a makeup sample subscription program called Birchbox. It's been getting really popular due to makeup bloggers and gurus on YouTube.

Image from realbeauty.com

It basically works like a magazine subscription. Every month you get a box of 4-5 deluxe samples delivered to your door. It's a recurring 10 dollars a month (you can cancel at any time), or you can pay a yearly fee of $110. Brands that you can receive include NARS, Benefit, Cargo, Laura Mercier, and much more. If you like the deluxe sample sizes, you can buy the full size off their site. Also, you can take surveys to get loyalty points for free birchboxes or discounts off the full size products! If you sign up for the monthly service, you get 10 loyalty points. If you sign up for the year long one, you get 110. 100 points gets you $10 off a full size product!

I decided to join because I love love love mini products. It's so nice to try things before I buy them. AND this service will introduce me to brands and products I might not have tried otherwise. I'm a bit bummed because I signed up too late to get this month's box, so my first box won't come until March 10th. Even so, I'm super excited! I signed up for the monthly payment, just to see if I like the service or not.

Even though I haven't actually tried it yet, I wanted to let you ladies know about it, because I am THAT excited Let me know what you think, have you tried it? Do you use it? Do you want it??

Sign up for Birchbox HERE.  ( ´·        ω       ·` )

I'm talkin' bout the right state of your mind

Do you guys ever have one of those mornings where you feel like you don't have ANY clothes, even though your closet's overstuffed? And you have no idea what to wear, and you feel like utter and complete Sh*t? Well, I get one of those every once in a while, and that's why I have a "uniform". My uniform is something I wear when I have no idea what to wear. It's something I'll instantly feel confident and comfortable in no matter what. For me it's always a white top (any white top will do), jeans, and brown boots. Simple, boring, but it does it's job. What I'm wearing above: Forever21 Button up tunic, Pacsun jeans, Wet Seal boots

For those remotely curious as to what products I'm wearing:
I usually just wear neutral colors, but I was getting bored, so I eased myself into more colors by using purple eyeshadows. Please excuse the hair. I hadn't brushed it yet in these photos...

Face:
Maybelline SuperStay foundation in Classic Beige
Maybelline Double Face Corrector concealer in Light/Medium
Nars pressed powder in Beach
NYX blush in Taupe (to contour)
Rock & Republic blush in Spank

Eyes:
Anastasia brow kit
Urban Decay Primer Potion in Eden
Maybelline EyeStudio palette in Purple Icon
Wet n Wild in Lust
Maybelline Falsies mascara
Makeup Forever Aqua Eyes eyeliner in Mat Black
Loreal Lineur Intense liquid liner

Oh, and I have a bunchhh of reviews for you guys. I just have to upload, resize, and edit! ( ˆ      ω     ˆ ). Please be patient with me!
